Fresno council OKs energy district
The Fresno City Council on Thursday approved the formation of a citywide energy and water efficiency contractual assessment district to help businesses finance energy-efficiency and renewable-energy projects.
The council also approved participation in the Pacific Housing and Finance Agency’s California Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program. The city has been working with the statewide joint powers authority to implement a commercial PACE financing program to help commercial and industrial property owners finance energy-efficient and renewable-energy projects.
City funds will not be at risk, the staff report stated.
